Marcus Hotels & Resorts Names Jeff Stewart General Manager of the Sheraton Madison Hotel

Milwaukee, Wis., February 23, 2016. . . . .Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, a leading hotel management company in Wisconsin and division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS), today announced that Jeff Stewart has been appointed general manager of the Sheraton Madison hotel in Madison, Wis. The company also announced the addition of Alex Mabry as assistant director of sales and Kara Gugel as banquets manager for both the Hilton Madison and Sheraton Madison hotels.

Stewart joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2015 as hotel manager at the AAA-Four Diamond Hilton Milwaukee City Center in Milwaukee, Wis. He previously was director of operations at Hyatt Regency Indianapolis, where he served since 2007. Stewart began his hospitality career in 2000 with Hyatt Hotels Corporation at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. During his 15-year tenure with Hyatt, he held a variety of management roles in the areas of stewarding, restaurants and banquets at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, Hyatt Regency Chicago and Hyatt Regency Boston. Stewart has a bachelor’s degree in hospitality from Eastern Illinois University.

Mabry will be responsible for leading sales strategies and initiatives for the 240-room Hilton Madison hotel and 239-room Sheraton Madison hotel, overseeing all group room and business accounts focusing on the University of Wisconsin and State and Federal Government agencies. She joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2013 as corporate sales manager for the Heidel House Resort & Spa in Green Lake, Wis. Prior to this position she served as catering, sales and marketing manager for Oshkosh Country Club, in Oshkosh, Wis. Mabry has also held various sales and marketing positions throughout her career at several organizations including an Orlando, Fla. newspaper and food and beverage outlets located in the Orlando area. Mabry graduated from Valencia College in Orlando, Fla. with an associate degree in business management.

Gugel joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2014 as banquets supervisor for the Madison hotels and served as lead host for the Capitol ChopHouse. She then accepted the role as Manager in Training for the Hilton Madison hotel, where she spent time in various departments including event management, sales, and front desk. Gugel has a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and an event planning certification from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.

Marcus Hotels & Resorts Announces General Manager Changes at Heidel House Resort & Spa and Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark

The company also announced that Mark Fenton will assume the general manager role at Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark in Lake Geneva, Wis.

Karau comes to Heidel House Resort & Spa after serving as general manager of Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark since 2014. In his new role, Karau will oversee the operations of the year-round destination resort located on Wisconsin’s deepest inland lake, including 18,000 square feet of meeting space, 180 guestrooms, dining establishments including Grey Rock restaurant and the award-winning Evensong Spa.

Karau joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2013 as director of operations for the AAA Four-Diamond Grand Geneva Resort & Spa. Prior to joining Marcus Hotels & Resorts, he served as general manager of three beachfront hotels for Seahaven Beach Resorts in Panama City Beach, Fla. Karau’s more than 20-year hospitality career includes general manager roles under ResortQuest International, one of the largest vacation rental management companies in the U.S. He also served as director of lodging at Portofino Island Resort & Spa in Pensacola Beach, Fla. and hotel manager of Snowshoe Resort in Snowshoe, W.Va. under Intrawest Resorts. His prior experience includes serving as vacation rental operations manager for WaterColor Inn and Resort in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., and revenue manager of the Hermitage Hotel in Nashville, Tenn. He attended Belmont Abby College in North Carolina.

Fenton joins Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark after serving as resident manager at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa. In his new role, he will oversee the operations of the only all-suite destination of its kind in the Midwest, offering year-round family fun featuring Moose Mountain Falls, a 50,000 square-foot indoor/outdoor waterpark, 225 suites, meeting spaces and family barbecue restaurant.

Prior to joining Marcus Hotels in 2014, Fenton was with Hyatt Hotels Corporation for nearly 25 years. He began his hospitality career as a corporate trainee, and was later promoted to director of rooms and senior director of rooms at prestigious locations including the Hyatt Waikiki Resort and Spa, Hyatt Regency San Francisco, Hyatt Regency Sacramento and Hyatt Charlotte. He graduated from Penn State University with a degree in hotel and restaurant management and attended Les Roches, a Swiss hotel school.

Susan Terry Named Vice President of Culinary and Food & Beverage Operations; Mark Weber Promoted to Director of Culinary Operations

Ms. Terry will oversee the company’s food and beverage operations including catering, banquets and more than 40 signature restaurants, bars and lounges across 19 properties. She will be responsible for strategic planning, financial performance, operations, talent development, and restaurant design and concepting.

Prior to joining Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Ms. Terry served as vice president of culinary operations for Hyatt Hotels Corporation, overseeing culinary as well as food and beverage operations for the Americas region. She began her 25-year career with Hyatt at the Hyatt Regency Suites on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, eventually moving to the Park Hyatt Century City. She rose to senior executive chef at the Grand Hyatt Washington before being appointed corporate director of culinary operations for Hyatt in 2006. Susan was promoted again in 2008 to vice president of culinary operations for the Americas.

During her tenure at Hyatt, Ms. Terry oversaw the creation of a global food and beverage operating initiative, with the guiding operating philosophy: healthy people, healthy planet and healthy communities. Building on this theme, she launched an innovative kid’s menu program, offering the Hyatt’s youngest guests more nutritious, fresh and interactive offerings. In her new role, Williams-Smith will oversee the development of the SafeHouse brand. This news follows The Marcus Corporation’s June acquisition of the SafeHouse in Milwaukee.

“Peggy has been instrumental in creating memorable food and beverage experiences in our hotels across the country, as well as developing many successful concepts in our Marcus Restaurant Group portfolio, including the Miller Time Pub & Grill, Mason Street Grill and ChopHouse brands. Her 18 years of experience in the hospitality business and strong passion and proven expertise in creating distinctive food and beverage experiences with exceptional customer service will be a great foundation as we enhance and build the SafeHouse concept,” said Joseph Khairallah, chief operating officer of Marcus Hotels & Resorts.

Williams-Smith most recently served as corporate vice president of food and beverage overseeing food and beverage operations nationally, including 19 hotel properties and 40 restaurant and beverage outlets.

She joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts as a catering manager with the Hilton Milwaukee in 1997. During her career with the company, she served in a variety of positions, including director of catering for the Hilton Milwaukee and The Pfister Hotel, general manager of Brynwood Country Club, senior director of catering sales and event operations and corporate director of catering.

HB Cares Classic Brings Together HelmsBriscoe, Marcus® Hotels & Resorts and Other Partners To Support Community Charities

(December 15, 2015) — On August 23rd – 24th, 2016, HelmsBriscoe and Marcus Hotels & Resorts will once again host the annual HB Cares Classic, a networking and charity event which this year raised $50,000 for charity. The event will be held at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

Andrea Foster Joins Marcus Hotels & Resorts and MCS Capital LLC as Senior Vice President, Development

Foster, a 20-year hospitality veteran and lodging industry expert, will be responsible for marketing the company’s hotel management capabilities and identifying and securing potential acquisition, joint venture and third-party management opportunities for the company.

Foster joins Marcus Hotels & Resorts and MCS Capital from PKF Consulting|CBRE Hotels, where she most recently served as managing director, leading PKF’s Boston office and overseeing its national Spa Advisory Practice. From 2006-2011, she served as vice president, marketing and business development for Miraval Holdings, a top-rated destination spa resort and healthy lifestyle brand. Foster began working with PKF|CBRE in Los Angeles in 2002 where she was responsible for hospitality real estate ventures and feasibility analysis. She returned to PKF|CBRE in 2011. Her career also includes operations management positions with boutique-size branded and independent hotel properties on the East and West coasts.

“Andrea’s extensive experience in operations, business development, marketing, feasibility and valuation, as well as hotel spa and wellness, is an excellent addition to our company. Andrea will work closely with William H. She has become a key voice at hotel investment conferences and was the publisher of PKF’s Trends® in the Hotel Spa Industry report. Foster is president of the Cornell Hotel Society New England Chapter, industry advisor to Cornell University Spa Association, scholarship chair for ISPA (the International Spa Association), a member of the NEREJ (New England Real Estate Journal) Hotel Advisory Board, an active member of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Boston, and is a regular speaker at the hospitality schools at Cornell and Boston University.

Marcus Hotels & Resorts Announces Key Leadership Appointments in Minneapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee and Las Vegas

Milwaukee, Wis., November 12, 2015. . . . .Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, a nationally recognized hotel management company and division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS), today announced leadership appointments in Minneapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee and Las Vegas.

Jim Waldvogel has been named managing director for the Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington hotel and Crowne Plaza Minneapolis Northstar Downtown. Waldvogel previously served as area vice president and general manager of the Hilton Milwaukee City Center. Waldvogel joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 1997 as general manager of the Crowne Plaza Northstar Downtown and served as general manager of the Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington from 2007 to 2014.

Chris Zarek has been appointed general manager of the AC Hotel Chicago Downtown. Prior to this position, he served as general manager of the Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington hotel. Zarek joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2008 as human resources director at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center. He has held several leadership roles within the company, including regional HR director for Milwaukee, director of food and beverage at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center and director of operations at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Mahesh Reddy has been appointed general manager of the Hilton Milwaukee City Center. Reddy previously served as general manager of the Platinum Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas, Nev. He joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2000 where he held leadership roles at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center for six years. In 2012, he was named general manager of the Westin Columbus and appointed general manager of the Platinum Hotel & Spa in 2013.

Mary Orlando has been named general manager of the Platinum Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas, Nev. Previously she served as general manager of the AC Hotel Chicago Downtown and oversaw the transformation and rebranding of the property, Marriott’s newest lifestyle brand which opened in June, 2015. Orlando joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2004 as general manager of Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark in Lake Geneva, Wis. and served as general manager of the company’s Chicago property from 2008 to 2015.
