Marcus Hotels & Resorts Completes Extensive Renovation of the Hilton Madison in Madison, Wis.

Milwaukee, Wis., May 30, 2012. . . . . Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, a division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS), today announced the completion of a multi-million dollar renovation of all 240 guestrooms and public spaces at the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace, in Madison, Wis.  The Hilton Madison is owned and operated by Marcus Hotels & Resorts.

“The Hilton Madison Monona Terrace has been the city’s first choice for business and leisure travelers since it opened in 2001.  The recently completed renovation ensures we maintain our excellent reputation and provide an even higher level of service and amenities for our guests.  The updated renovations are focused on providing an upscale, urban and residential feel to the rooms and public spaces, while exceeding Hilton’s design specifications,” said Bob Caston, general manager.

Guestroom renovations include a new layout with a sleek, clean look.  New furnishings include mahogany dressers and desks featuring media hub connectivity, new carpeting and in-room guest safes.  All guest rooms have been upgraded with decorative lighting, refrigerators and the Hilton Serenity Bed Collection for ultimate relaxation and comfort.

Additional renovations include converting eight standard guest rooms to Jr. Deluxe Lakeview Suites with privacy walls to create a separate seating and sleeping area.  The hotel’s three Presidential Suites have also been completely remodeled and updated with the latest technology and guest comforts.

Caston said the renovations also included expanding the hotel’s technology infrastructure to provide convenient accessibility around-the-clock.  “Each guestroom is now equipped with a media hub that connects a guest’s laptop or mobile device to the in-room television, essentially transforming it into their own personal entertainment center.  Our lobby area and Jr. Deluxe Lakeview Suites have been remodeled with custom C-shaped tables for easy laptop use, featuring enhanced connectivity and built-in charging stations for convenience.  Our guests can enjoy Wi-Fi from a comfortable seat in the lobby while doing business or just relaxing.  We look forward to building on our position as the leading hotel in the city.”

Marcus Hotels & Resorts Announces Milwaukee IndyFest Activities Beginning May 29

Super Speedway Film Showing May 29 at The Majestic Cinema with Michael Andretti

On Tuesday, May 29, 2012, organizers will show Super Speedway at the Marcus Majestic Cinema in Brookfield at 7:20 p.m.  The film will be introduced by Michael Andretti and New York Times Best-Selling author, Jade Gurss.  After the showing, Andretti will conduct a special Q&A session about his role in the film and discuss his anticipation for Milwaukee IndyFest.  General admission tickets for the film are $15.00 and can be purchased at the Majestic Cinema box office or online athttp://www.marcustheatres.com/Movie/MovieDetail/64582.

The racing documentary,  Super Speedway, follows the Newman-Haas racing team (Andretti) during the 1996 season and captures the process of building, testing and racing.  Starring Paul Newman, Richard Garneau, Jim Paulson and race car drivers Jeff Andretti, Mario Andretti, Michael Andretti,Christian Fittipaldi and Carl Hass, the movie includes extensive race speed on-track footage, including some pre-race footage with a full squad of cars.

Milwaukee IndyFest Street Party June 14 adjacent to the Hilton Milwaukee

The highly anticipated Milwaukee IndyFest Street Party will take place June 14, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the parking lot located on 5thand Wisconsin streets across from the Hilton Milwaukee Hotel. The street party is free to all participants.

The Street Party will feature:

  • Live music by The Toys
  • IndyCar race driver appearances, including Mario and Michael Andretti
  • A car show with prizes for each category (60’s or earlier, 70’s, muscle car, roadster and street rod). Registration is $10 per car before June 8 and includes two Marcus Theatres movie passes. The Pfister Café Featured in Lodging Magazine March 2012 Issue

Joe Kurth, general manager of The Pfister Hotel, discusses the trend of on-site coffee shops and how Marcus Hotels redesigned their  Café Pfister to include a Starbucks barista counter and patisserie.  As a result of the renovations, the hotel is watching nearly 40 percent revenue growth as guests who once left the hotel to find the nearest Starbucks are now spending their money with The Pfister.

Hotel Phillips Renovation Featured in January/February 2012 Hotel Business Design

The Hotel Phillips located in Kansas City, Mo. and managed and owned by Marcus Hotels,  recently completed a multi-million dollar property-wide renovation.  Kimberley Miller, CEO of design firm Duncan Miller Ullmann discusses with Hotel Business Design the vision for the project and how maintaining the hotel’s elegant Art Deco design elements became an opportunity while adding touches of modern flair.  The newly renovated Hotel Phillips reflects the vibrant feel of Kansas City in the 1930’s, coupled with the  modern-day excitement of the 21st century.  The hotel was originally opened in 1931 and continues to remain the city’s most elegant hotel.
