Coralville Hotel & Conference Center Reflagged Under the Hyatt Regency Brand

 

The 286-key Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center becomes the first Hyatt Regency hotel in the state of Iowa

Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, a nationally recognized owner and management company and division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS), announced that the Coralville Hotel & Conference Center has been reflagged as the Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center, making it the first Hyatt Regency in the state of Iowa. The company assumed management of the newly flagged property on August 18, 2021.   

To offer guests the elevated experience and amenities for which the Hyatt Regency brand is known, the hotel, which is owned by the City of Coralville, will undergo a phased renovation to include refreshed guestrooms and a new restaurant and bar concept to appeal to both travelers and local guests. 

Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center is situated in the heart of the Iowa River Landing, a 180-acre mixed-use development featuring more than 330,000 square feet of retail, office, residential and entertainment spaces. The spacious hotel is just three miles from the University of Iowa, one of the best public universities in the country, and is near many of the area’s exciting attractions, including Xtream Arena, Kinnick Stadium, Carver Hawkeye Arena, Hancher Auditorium, the Iowa Children’s Museum and the Amana Colonies.

Guestrooms 

Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center features 286 guestrooms and suites with marble baths and scenic views of the Iowa River. The property’s planned renovations will include restyled guestrooms to match the Hyatt Regency brand’s intuitively designed, modern concept that creates comfortable rooms complete with regionally inspired artwork and residential features such as dedicated work spaces.  

Dining 

The hotel is currently home to Edgewater Grille where guests can enjoy breakfast options, lunch specials and a welcoming dinner experience. Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center’s renovations will include a new bar and restaurant concept that will offer guests a place to gather and enjoy locally sourced, seasonal menus. 

Meetings & Events 

Featuring 57,588 square feet of state-of-the-art flexible meeting and convention space, the property’s exhibit hall hosts the area’s largest meeting space with a capacity of up to 3,000 people. This is in addition to its two elegant ballrooms, 20 flexible breakout meeting spaces and outdoor terrace. All event spaces offer natural light and stunning views overlooking the property’s water features and walking trails. 

Fitness & Relaxation Areas

Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel Promotes Samantha Timm To Curator

 Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel, an award-winning hotel owned and managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, today announced Samantha Timm has been promoted to curator. In this role, she will inspire Saint Kate’s artistic vision in its six everchanging exhibitions as well as lead and develop exclusive art engagement and programming for visitors and guests alike. 

“We are thrilled to have Samantha Timm as our lead curator,” said Linda Marcus, one of Saint Kate’s visionaries and a nationally recognized multi-disciplinary artist, designer and storyteller. “Ms. Timm has the unique perspective and ability to bring each artist’s work to life. The result, compelling exhibitions that leave the public and our guests enlightened and moved.” 

Timm’s career in the arts began at the Chazen Museum of Art in Madison, Wisconsin as curatorial assistant for its approximately 23,000 works of art covering diverse historical periods, cultures and geographies. She has also held various positions at art museums in the New York City area, including Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, an internationally renowned art museum devoted to 20th century art, and Winter Antiques Show, a leading art, antiques and design fair featuring experts in the fine and decorative arts. Prior to Saint Kate, Timm was curator for Jewel Spiegel Gallery in Englewood, New Jersey, which holds a collection of old, fine and decorative prints. Her strong background in both art history and contemporary art brought her to Saint Kate as art historian in April 2019 and co-curator with Marcus in October 2020. In addition to her breadth of experience in the arts, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Art History from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and a master’s degree in History of Art from the University of York in York, England. 

“I’m so excited to bring my vision to life at Saint Kate,” said Timm. “Throughout my career, and especially with Linda as my mentor, I’ve had the opportunity to engage with inspiring artists and tell their stories through collaboratively curated exhibitions and intimate, one-on-one opportunities with guests. In addition to its permanent art collection and exhibitions, Saint Kate creates intimate and immersive arts experience for visitors through unique programming and partnerships with local arts organizations. In her role, Timm will continue to lead the hotel’s champagne art tours where visitors can explore Saint Kate’s art collection and special exhibitions. She will also host a joint walking tour series with Sculpture Milwaukee, a non-profit organization transforming downtown Milwaukee’s cultural landscape with an outdoor exhibition of world-renowned sculpture. Mason Street Grill Promotes Steve Mackey to General Manager

Mason Street Grill, part of the Marcus® Restaurant Group, today announced that Steve Mackey has been promoted to general manager. In his new role, Mackey will be responsible for overseeing all facets of the top-rated restaurant, driving menu innovations, service quality, talent development and guest relations.

Mackey began his career at Marcus Hotels & Resorts as the front office manager at The Pfister Hotel before being promoted to the director of rooms at the former InterContinental Milwaukee, now Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel. He then served as director of quality and training at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center before his most recent position as assistant general manager at Mason Street Grill. This vast experience has allowed him to gain extensive knowledge in the areas of guest satisfaction, restaurant management, training, human resources management, menu development, procurement, operations and more.

All dining facilities will expand their hours in a phased approach based upon safety guidelines and resort occupancy. Weather permitting, patio dining will be available where possible, and carry-out and in-room dining will be offered.

The resort’s award-winning WELL Spa + Salon will initially offer manicures, pedicures, haircuts, and hair treatments. Additional spa services will be offered in a phased approach. Mason Street Grill Announces New Menus, Names General Manager

Kicking off 2020 with a twist, Mason Street Grill, a part of the Marcus® Restaurant Group, announced the launch of new lunch, dinner and cocktail menus. The restaurant also named its new general manager, Brady Pankow, who has been overseeing all daily operations at the neighborhood grill in downtown Milwaukee since 2019.

The new lunch, dinner and cocktail menus feature many of the restaurant’s staple favorites, while adding dishes with flavors and techniques slightly different than the typical American Grill. Some of the new dishes include braised short rib, dumplings and grilled octopus. Mason Street Grill also added a new specialty cocktail – Mason Street Moonshine, which melds together honey, an assortment of hand-picked spices, fresh apple and a neutral spirit.

“I wanted these new menus to reflect my passion for mixing unconventional and simple flavors, while continuing to showcase the amazing quality that Mason Street Grill offers. By marrying comfort food with fine dining, the new dishes provide a unique twist that is different from the classic meals at Mason Street Grill, but will certainly leave a lasting impression,” said Heskeith Flavien, executive chef at the restaurant.

Pankow, the new general manager at Mason Street Grill, is overseeing the roll out of the new menus with Flavien. Pankow, who has 30 plus years of experience in the restaurant industry, joined Mason Street Grill from Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Northbrook, Ill., where he served as the general manager since 2016. Prior to that position, he was general manager at Townhouse Detroit, an American grill located in Detroit. His career has also included roles as general manager for several different restaurants across the country, including Cameron’s Steakhouse in Birmingham, Mich., and opening five restaurants for the Cameron Mitchell Restaurant Group in Arizona, Michigan and Ohio.

Six Finalists Named for The Pfister Hotel’s 12th Artist in Residence

Finalists will showcase work during Milwaukee’s Gallery Night, January 17

The AAA Four Diamond Pfister® Hotel, owned and managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, today named six finalists in the running for its 2020-2021 Artist-in-Residence program. Selected for their vision for the residency, existing body of work, artistic process and personality, this year’s finalists are:

Anke Wonder – artistic sustainable fashion designer
Ariana Hugget – representational painter, colorist, realist
David Najib Kasir – contemporary painter
Mariah Kate Klemens – sentimental conceptualist
Nykoli Koslow – conceptual abstraction artist
Paloma Wilder – goldsmith and jewelry designer

All Milwaukee natives, The Pfister’s 2020-2021 Artist-in-Residence finalists represent a wide array of artistic forms and experience. Locals and visitors alike will have a chance to meet each artist in person at Milwaukee’s next Gallery Night on January 17, 2020. From 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. in The Pfister’s Rouge Ballroom, guests will be able to see the finalists’ artwork and interact with them. No tickets are required, and light refreshments will be served.

In addition to Gallery Night, a selection committee, made up of influential artists and art enthusiasts from the Milwaukee community, will conduct an interview process over the coming weeks to select the winner. The formal announcement of the next Artist in Residence is expected in late February 2020.

As the program enters its 12th and largest year yet, the 2020-2021 Pfister Hotel Artist in Residence will continue to be at the forefront of Milwaukee’s thriving art scene, showcasing his or her work in a studio gallery on the first floor of Milwaukee’s most iconic hotel. During the year-long residency, which will take place April 1, 2020 through March 31, 2021, the selected winner will create and display work in the designated artist studio and gallery, as well as participate in events and programming throughout the hotel. Guests in town for one of the many highly anticipated events taking place in 2020, as well as the general public can visit the artist during his or her residency and watch the evolution of each piece, while learning about the Artist in Residence’s unique artform and method, offering the new resident the opportunity of a lifetime.
