With over 20 years in the hospitality industry, Traetow’s career includes leadership positions in both sales and operations at upscale, full-service properties throughout Iowa and Minnesota. He most recently served as area general manager for Hotel Equities, a hotel owner, operator and development firm based in Alpharetta, Georgia. In this role, Traetow led operations of the Homewood Suites by Hilton Coralville-Iowa River Landing in Coralville, Iowa, as well as provided oversight and guidance for three other area properties. His extensive responsibilities included hiring, onboarding and training of all hotel leaders and associates; budgeting, forecasting and revenue management; as well as the successful rollout of new guest services and protocols.

Situated just three miles from the University of Iowa, Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center is in the heart of the Iowa River Landing, a 180-acre development featuring retail, office, residential and entertainment spaces. This 286-room, full-service, upper upscale hotel hosts travelers as well as large-scale meetings, events, exhibitions and more. It features 57,588 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting and convention space, an exhibit hall capable of hosting up to 3,000 people, two elegant ballrooms and 20 flexible breakout meeting spaces. The property’s well-appointed guest rooms and suites feature signature bedding, marble baths, Wi-Fi and Iowa River views. Under Traetow’s leadership and following the brand transition, the hotel will undergo a phased renovation that will include refreshed guest rooms and a new restaurant and bar concept positioned to attract both visitors and locals alike.

“I’m excited to join Marcus Hotels & Resorts, a hospitality leader, and Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center’s team,” said Traetow. “As someone who has called the Iowa City-area home for the last 17 years, I’m looking forward to showcasing this special place. Whether guests come for a getaway, a meeting, a wedding or just drinks or dinner, I look forward to providing everyone with an unforgettable experience.”
