Iconic hotel selected to prestigious list honoring the best in timeless luxury For the second consecutive year, The Pfister Hotel, a historic AAA Four Diamond hotel owned and managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, has been named one of USA Today’s 10 Best Historic Hotels in the U.S. The Pfister, ranked No. 6, was nominated for this national recognition by a panel of hotel experts, and the top 10 winners were determined by online voting from readers. The full list can be found on the USA Today 10 Best website. “The Pfister Hotel, with its timeless elegance and storied history, is honored to be named one of USA Today’s 10 Best Historic Hotels for a second straight year,” said Michael Evans, president of Marcus Hotels & Resorts. “This recognition from readers celebrates not only our rich legacy but also our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional hospitality and an unforgettable experience for every guest who walks through our doors.” For more than 130 years, The Pfister Hotel has been an iconic landmark in downtown Milwaukee and the city’s premier hotel since its opening in 1893. Originally known as the “Grand Hotel of the West,” The Pfister was the most lavish hotel of its time featuring groundbreaking innovations rarely found during the late 19th century, including fireproofing and electricity throughout the property. The hotel was also the first in the U.S. to offer individual thermostat controls in every guestroom. Those modern amenities and services drew the world’s most celebrated entertainers and dignitaries to visit and stay at the hotel, including every U.S. president since William McKinley. Today, The Pfister is nearing completion of an extensive, multi-phased $20 million renovation of the property aimed at preserving its historic elegance while also providing contemporary amenities to meet the needs of today’s guests. Renowned for its opulent interiors with stunning marble accents and intricate woodwork, the renovation features fully revitalized ballrooms, meeting and events spaces and guest rooms, along with enhancements to the hotel’s iconic lobby and lobby bar, ensuring the hotel’s timeless charm and grandeur endure for years to come. More about the project can be found here. In addition to its breathtaking architecture and design, The Pfister has long woven the arts into its cultural fiber, providing unique experiences for both guests and visitors as the hotel holds the largest Victorian art collection of any hotel in the world. Originally collected by Guido and Charles Pfister, the expansive collection can be found on every floor throughout the hotel. The Pfister also celebrates the arts with its internationally recognized Artist in Residence program. In its 15th year, the program selects an artist for a year-long residency where he or she works in the hotel’s studio and gallery space that is open to hotel guests and visitors. The public is encouraged to interact with the artist and witness the evolution of their art firsthand, inviting collaboration and intimate experiences with the artist. Each Artist in Residence creates a piece that stays at the Pfister to showcase the imprint they made on the property. These pieces are on display throughout the hotel.
