THE PFISTER HOTEL NAMED TO USA TODAY’S 10 BEST HISTORIC HOTEL LIST FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Iconic hotel selected to prestigious list honoring the best in timeless luxury For the second consecutive year, The Pfister Hotel, a historic AAA Four Diamond hotel owned and managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, has been named one of USA Today’s 10 Best Historic Hotels in the U.S. The Pfister, ranked No. 6, was nominated for this national recognition by a panel of hotel experts, and the top 10 winners were determined by online voting from readers. The full list can be found on the USA Today 10 Best website. “The Pfister Hotel, with its timeless elegance and storied history, is honored to be named one of USA Today’s 10 Best Historic Hotels for a second straight year,” said Michael Evans, president of Marcus Hotels & Resorts. “This recognition from readers celebrates not only our rich legacy but also our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional hospitality and an unforgettable experience for every guest who walks through our doors.” For more than 130 years, The Pfister Hotel has been an iconic landmark in downtown Milwaukee and the city’s premier hotel since its opening in 1893. Originally known as the “Grand Hotel of the West,” The Pfister was the most lavish hotel of its time featuring groundbreaking innovations rarely found during the late 19th century, including fireproofing and electricity throughout the property. The hotel was also the first in the U.S. to offer individual thermostat controls in every guestroom. Those modern amenities and services drew the world’s most celebrated entertainers and dignitaries to visit and stay at the hotel, including every U.S. president since William McKinley. Today, The Pfister is nearing completion of an extensive, multi-phased $20 million renovation of the property aimed at preserving its historic elegance while also providing contemporary amenities to meet the needs of today’s guests. Renowned for its opulent interiors with stunning marble accents and intricate woodwork, the renovation features fully revitalized ballrooms, meeting and events spaces and guest rooms, along with enhancements to the hotel’s iconic lobby and lobby bar, ensuring the hotel’s timeless charm and grandeur endure for years to come. More about the project can be found here. In addition to its breathtaking architecture and design, The Pfister has long woven the arts into its cultural fiber, providing unique experiences for both guests and visitors as the hotel holds the largest Victorian art collection of any hotel in the world. Originally collected by Guido and Charles Pfister, the expansive collection can be found on every floor throughout the hotel. The Pfister also celebrates the arts with its internationally recognized Artist in Residence program. In its 15th year, the program selects an artist for a year-long residency where he or she works in the hotel’s studio and gallery space that is open to hotel guests and visitors. The public is encouraged to interact with the artist and witness the evolution of their art firsthand, inviting collaboration and intimate experiences with the artist. Each Artist in Residence creates a piece that stays at the Pfister to showcase the imprint they made on the property. These pieces are on display throughout the hotel. After an extensive 6-month renovation, the newly transformed guest rooms and suites feature a warm contemporary design, which complements the AAA Four-Diamond property’s serene woodland and lakeside setting. The redesign of Grand Geneva’s guest rooms is the third major investment over the last few years in a series of extensive renovations for the 1,300 acre, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin resort. A public area renovation was completed in spring 2021, which included a reinvention of the resort’s lobby and lobby lounge plus the launch of its 60-seat outdoor dining venue, The Landing. Last summer, all guest room bathrooms received full renovations. In the coming months, the resort is planning a series of renovations to its meeting and event spaces. “The continued investment and improvements to Grand Geneva Resort & Spa and the Marcus Hotels & Resorts portfolio ensure that travelers will enjoy these properties for generations to come,” shared Michael Evans, president of Marcus Hotels & Resorts. “Grand Geneva’s newly transformed rooms add another level of contemporary luxury, as we continue to enhance our guests’ award-winning hospitality experience while celebrating this beloved Lake Geneva resort.” From spacious suites featuring fireplaces, dining areas and expansive patios, to rooms with private balconies and peaceful nature and lake views, Grand Geneva Resort & Spa offers a variety of redesigned room styles to accommodate guest preferences and requirements at the all-season resort. “Thoughtful planning and considerate attention to detail go into everything we do here at Grand Geneva – especially our renovation projects,” said Skip Harless, managing director, Grand Geneva Resort & Spa. “Each room has been completely reimagined from floor to ceiling with a palette of neutral colors and natural woods. New modern residential finishes, furnishings, and specially curated artwork by Midwestern designers welcome guests to a timeless, inviting space where they can take advantage of all of the amenities and services Grand Geneva is known for.” Guests and visitors may now enjoy these upgrades as well as resort offerings and programming, award-winning restaurants featuring new seasonal menus, two championship golf courses, a WELL Spa + Salon, and more. Beginning this month, all guests will enjoy the newly redesigned rooms. The renovation of the resort’s entire collection of 358 guest rooms will be complete by Memorial Day weekend.
