The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa Celebrates Successful Party in Pink™ Zumbathon®

Local charity event raised over $3, 500 to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure

The AAA Four-Diamond Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, owned and managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, is proud to announce the success of its recent Party in Pink™ Zumbathon®. The event, held at the resort’s WELL Spa + Salon, raised $3,781 to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer charity. Zumba, a Latin-inspired dance-fitness program, is one of the spa’s more popular class offerings.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the level of participation we received from the local community and our Grand Geneva guests,” said Connie Woodhouse, Director of the WELL Spa and Fitness Center. “Here at the WELL Spa, we have made it our mission to be true examples of wellness by giving back to those in need. It was an honor to host this year’s event and we would like to thank everyone who came out to support this worthy cause.”

Hosted by the resort’s six certified Zumba instructors, the Party in Pink™ event featured a party-friendly soundtrack by DJ Alan Baddmixx Boyd and donated pink-themed treats from Simple Bakery, Lake Geneva Bakery and Panera Bread. In between dance moves, guests participated in raffles and casino games by David Tasse’ Productions, with all proceeds benefitting the cause.

Now in its third year, Party in Pink™ encourages Zumba instructors and enthusiasts to host and attend Zumbathon® charity events benefiting breast cancer research and education. Last year’s campaign took the effort worldwide, raising over $1.2 million for breast cancer charities.

Paradise Landing at Hilton Milwaukee City Center – An Urban Oasis!

Original Article By Jessica H for MommyBunch.com

Paradise Landing

About a week and a half ago, my kids and I went to see the How to Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular in Milwaukee. We had a ton of fun at the show, but after it was over we got to head back to a wonderful hotel, and enjoyed a weekend splashing around at an amazing Oasis in the middle of the city!

We stayed at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center hotel, which also includes an attached water park; Paradise Landing. I was actually quite surprised to find such an awesome treat right in the middle of downtown! My family and I used to live about one half hour north of Milwaukee, and I never even knew this water park was there…

Marcus® Hotels & Resorts and the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa Partner with HelmsBriscoe for the 3rd Annual Tim Cup Invitational

Two-day event raises more than $50, 000 for charity

LAKE GENEVA, WI (October 25,  2012) – From  September 9–11, 2012, the AAA Four-Diamond Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, owned and managed by Marcus Hotels & Resorts,  was the site of the Tim Cup Invitational.  The third annual, two-day networking and charity event was hosted by Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Visit Orlando, MGM Resorts International, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and HelmsBriscoe. To celebrate the strength of this partnership, more than $50,000 was distributed to six different charities, each sharing the commitment to making a difference in their local communities.

This 2012 event hosted 188 hoteliers and 76 HelmsBriscoe associates from around the world to raise an incredible amount of monetary support for several charitable partners, including United Way of Greater Milwaukee; St. Joan of Arc Parish School in Nashotah, Wis.; the Ronald McDonald House of Milwaukee; Nevada Cancer Research Institute; Clean the World in Orlando, Fla.; and UNICEF. Checks for the supported organizations were presented at the event’s finale, including a $15,000 check presented to the United Way of Greater Milwaukee, The Marcus Corporation’s dedicated charity partner. St. Joan of Arc Parish School and the Ronald McDonald House of Milwaukee received $15,000 and $5,000, respectively.

In addition to work and support for local Wisconsin organizations, the event’s national support included $5,000 contributions to The Nevada Cancer Research Center, an MGM Resorts International charity partner; Clean the World, on behalf of Visit Orlando; and UNICEF, a Starwood Hotels & Resorts charity partner.

Tim Lamont, who started the annual Tim Cup Invitational in 2009, created the event as a way to link HelmsBriscoe associates with hoteliers, and raise money for charity while doing so. Now in its third year, the Tim Cup has already raised over $105,000 for eight charities around the country.

Guests participating in the invitational enjoyed accommodations at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa for two nights, during which they participated in exciting events including a boat cruise, volleyball, poker tournament, golf, and salon experience at the resort’s WELL Spa.

“We started this event to not only raise money for charities committed to making a difference in their communities, but also as a way for HelmsBriscoe to support their associates in cultivating lasting relationships with their colleagues and hoteliers around the world,” says Lamont. “We are thrilled with the success of the 2012 event and our continued partnership with Marcus Hotels & Resorts and our event host, the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa. I am looking forward to working with the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa to grow our accomplishments in 2013 and beyond.”

Marcus Hotels & Resorts Completes Renovation of Lobby Lounge at the Historic Hilton Milwaukee

Milwaukee, Wis., August 10, 2012…..Marcus®Hotels & Resorts, a division of The Marcus Corporation(NYSE: MCS), today announced that extensive renovations of the lobby lounge in the historic, AAA Four Diamond Hilton Milwaukee in Milwaukee, Wis. have been completed.  The company restored the hotel’s lobby lounge, which once housed one of the longest bars in Wisconsin – an ornate, 82-foot-long serpentine bar – to be reminiscent of the classic, old-school lobby cocktail lounge. Now open, the new Monarch Lounge, with its art deco-style bar design is spacious, welcoming and a place to connect socially within the community.

In addition to the art deco lounge, the renovation covers 3,800 square feet and includes spacious seating areas, workstations and a media center. A stone and metal fireplace was added to the south wall, while an interactive media work area anchors the north end with touch-screens, iPads®, a magazine stand and printer. The Monarch Lounge provides guests with comfortable seating for work or relaxation, with furnishings that reflect the hotel’s elegant history.

“The renovation and expansion of the lobby offers our guests additional space to work, relax and congregate,” said Steve Magnuson, Hilton Milwaukee’s vice president and general manager. “We hope visitors enjoy the many upgrades we’ve added, and that they find the new lobby area a comfortable and inviting place to spend their time.”

Featuring live jazz piano music in the evenings, the lounge offers a global wine list and bar-style menu featuring creative small plates of Mediterranean and classic American selections, paired with signature cocktails.

The culinary staff is working closely with local farmers and artisan food purveyors to put a local twist on internationally inspired flavors. “From calamari with basil dipping sauce and prosciutto bruschetta to chicken pot stickers and shaved tuna crudo, the Monarch Lounge offers plates to please every taste,” said Chef Robert Fedorko, market executive chef for Marcus Hotels & Resorts of Milwaukee. “The extensive drink menu features signature cocktails and seasonal drink specialties to please a variety of palates.”

As part of the renovation, several large windows on the east side of the building, which were covered for decades, have been opened to overlook 5th Street and offer a unique view of Wisconsin Avenue and downtown. Openings have also been created to overlook the upper and lower lobbies. Design elements of the renovated lounge include rich wood architecture, comfortable leather furniture, new floor covering and fixtures to reflect the hotel’s original 1920s style.

The Monarch Room transformation marks one of the final phases in a multi-million dollar renovation of the hotel’s guestrooms, lobby area, public spaces, fitness center and more. The elegant hotel has been extensively restored to reflect its original grandeur and renovated to incorporate modern technology to accommodate guests’ present-day needs.

Built in 1927, the Hilton Milwaukee is a classic art deco hotel with rich furnishings and distinctive architecture. Originally named The Schroeder Hotel, today the Hilton Milwaukee is recognized as the city’s largest hotel with a tradition of excellence spanning nearly 85 years. The gracious style of the hotel is reflected in the impeccable service and attention to every detail provided by a tenured team of hospitality professionals.

Mason Street Grill’s Freshly Sourced Lobster Featured in July 25 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Mark Weber, Executive Chef at the Mason Street Grill, shares his travels to source the freshest lobster for the restaurant’s patrons. Rather than just make a long-distance business deal, Weber took his quest to “know the lobsters” one step further. He traveled to Maine in June where he joined fishermen on their boats for three days, learning much about these coveted crustaceans.
