  • As the first-of-its-kind arts hotel, Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel in Milwaukee was honored as the #5 Top Hotel in the Midwest. Marcus Hotels & Resorts Promotes Steve Hilton to Senior Vice President of Operations

In his new role, Hilton will be responsible for directing and overseeing operations at properties throughout the Marcus Hotels & Resorts portfolio, including the development and implementation of new systems, talent development and community engagement. Hilton previously served as managing director of the company’s Omaha Marriott Downtown at the Capitol District hotel.

He led the property to many successes, including being named “Hotel of the Year” by Marriott International in 2019. He was promoted to managing director of the property in 2020. Prior to joining Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Hilton served as general manager at several hotels throughout the country.

Marcus Hotels & Resorts Promotes Derek Morrison to General Manager of the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace

In his new role, Morrison will oversee operations of the award-winning 240-room hotel, which is connected to the Monona Terrace Convention Center.

Morrison’s career in hospitality began at Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin as a beverage bar porter and ski lift operator while he was attending the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He went on to serve at several other hotels, mostly within Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio, in various management and leadership positions. In each role Morrison excelled, earning his most recent position as general manager of the company’s Crowne Plaza Northstar in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His extensive hospitality management experience includes operations, budget development and planning, revenue management, succession planning as well as coaching and mentoring of hotel managers and staff.

Marcus Hotels & Resorts Appoints Matt Traetow as General Manager of Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center

Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, a nationally recognized owner and management company and division of The Marcus Corporation, today announced Matt Traetow has been appointed as general manager of the Coralville Hotel & Conference Center in Coralville, Iowa. The company will assume management of the full-service property on August 18, 2021, which is slated to be rebranded as Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center. 

With over 20 years in the hospitality industry, Traetow’s career includes leadership positions in both sales and operations at upscale, full-service properties throughout Iowa and Minnesota. He most recently served as area general manager for Hotel Equities, a hotel owner, operator and development firm based in Alpharetta, Georgia. In this role, Traetow led operations of the Homewood Suites by Hilton Coralville-Iowa River Landing in Coralville, Iowa, as well as provided oversight and guidance for three other area properties. His extensive responsibilities included hiring, onboarding and training of all hotel leaders and associates; budgeting, forecasting and revenue management; as well as the successful rollout of new guest services and protocols.

City of Coralville Appoints Marcus® Hotels & Resorts as New Managers of Coralville Hotel & Conference Center

Property to be Repositioned Under the Hyatt Regency Brand 

Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, a nationally recognized owner and management company and division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS), today announced that it will assume management of The Coralville Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Coralville, Iowa, effective August 18, 2021. Owned by the City of Coralville, this 286-room hotel will be rebranded under the Hyatt Regency brand as the Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center as of the same date. Following the brand transition, the property will benefit from a phased renovation focusing on the Edgewater Grille restaurant and all hotel guest rooms.

In this role, he supported more than 5,000 managed and franchised properties, with oversight for 140 team members located throughout the Americas. Andrew’s previous roles with Hilton included vice president of product marketing & customer insights and vice president of global brand marketing. His international posts with Hilton included vice president sales & marketing Asia Pacific and regional director of sales, marketing & revenue management in Sydney, Australia.

An experienced industry veteran, Skip Harless has more than 32 years of hospitality experience.
